Welcome to HTG Labs! Let’s Build Some Cool Stuff!

Alright… let’s get this intro post out of the way, shall we? 😄

Welcome to HTG Labs, where we combine a love for all things tech, random (sometimes questionable) projects, and some pretty cool gear along the way.

First off, this isn’t going to be your typical tech blog.

I’m not here to act like I know everything. I’m not here to throw a bunch of specs at you or pretend to be some expert that’s been doing this for 20 years.

Honestly?

I just enjoy messing with tech, building random projects, and figuring things out as I go.

And that’s exactly what HTG Labs is.

A place for me to experiment, test things, and build… While bringing you along for the ride.

Maybe it sparks some ideas for you. Maybe it helps you build something you’ve been wanting to try. Or maybe it’s just something cool to follow along with.

Either way, I’m glad you’re here!

What This Is

Tech Studio Starter Setup

This is where I’m going to:

  • Build out my homelab and test different setups along the way

  • Try out and review random tech and gear (whether it makes sense or not)

  • Experiment with automations, dashboards, and tools (Cuz you know a Command Center with a bunch of computers, servers, and an ungodly amount of monitors sounds and looks really badass! 😄)

Some of it however will be useful. Some of it might just be cool. While occasionally some of it might be “why did I even try that?”

But that’s kinda the whole point. Experiment, learn, and build cool things together.

Why I’m Doing This

There’s a ton of tech content out there.

Most of it falls into one of two categories:

  • Super polished, overproduced, and not very relatable

  • Or super technical to the point where it feels like you need a degree just to follow along

And for a lot of people, including myself... That just kinda kills the motivation sometimes to even start.

So instead of trying to be perfect…

I figured I’d just document the process of the thing I get myself into. All while teaching and showing off how something works, if and where I can.

What You’ll See Here

This is going to be a mix of things like:

  • Homelab builds and upgrades

  • Maker Projects

  • Computer Builds

  • Some AI and Coding

  • Home Assistant dashboards and automations (Still learning a lot about this)

  • Random tech gear I come across online (useful or just plain interesting)

  • Experiments with different setups and ideas

  • Behind-the-scenes looks at how I build and organize everything

Some projects will be planned. Others will start as “this might be a terrible idea… let’s try it anyway.”

What This Isn’t

This isn’t a “perfect guide” to anything.

I’m not going to pretend every setup is the best way to do something. I’m not going to act like there’s only one right answer. You're going to see:

  • Trial and error

  • Stuff that works great

  • Stuff that completely fails

Because that’s how this stuff actually works in real life. It's never really perfect and sometimes just enough to get the job done. Although it will also give me a chance to learn why something works or doesn't work the way it should.

The Goal

If you get something useful out of this awesome. If it gives you an idea for your own setup, even better! And if nothing else… Hopefully, it at least gets you thinking, building, or creating.

Now, before I end this post, I wanna be as transparent as possible with all of you. I’m not running this on some strict weekly upload schedule, unfortunately.

Between working a full-time job during the week, family, and everything else that life requires of me... I’ll be posting when I’ve actually got something worth sharing or when I can. I will also be creating content for several other Channels/Brands that I run and operate, including growing the main part of my side business, 162 Media Productions.

However, that doesn't mean that sometimes there might be back-to-back stuff… While other times it might take a little longer before you see an updated video or post.

Either way, it’ll always be real, and I'll do my very best to keep you all updated.

You can always join my Discord Server, where we can hang out, chat, and come up with cool ideas or give advice in between the content uploads. INFINITY HQ - https://discord.gg/prQk7kVhdU

At the end of the day, this is just about building things, trying new ideas, and having some fun with it.

No pressure. No perfection.

Just building and having fun.

Check us out on your favorite platforms. Content will be coming soon to them all.
